Congressman Mac Collins Mourns Death of Former President Reagan
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Georgia Republican Congressman Mac Collins was deeply grieved Saturday upon hearing about the death of former President Ronald Reagan.
The Congressman issued this statement:
Julie and I deeply mourn the loss of former President Ronald Reagan.
Ronald Reagan was a great president and make America stand tall again in the world. He definitely made America as he promised to do a "Shining City on the Hill." He made Americans proud to be Americans.
Ronald Reagan assumed the presidency when America was undergoing an Iranian hostage crisis, the inflation rate was very high, unemployment was very high, and Americans were waiting in lines to get gasoline for their vehicles.
Ronald Reagan proposed an economic and defense program and despite all the criticism, he stuck with it. He created the longtime peacetime job expansion in history during his presidency which has not yet been surpassed.
He stopped the communists in Grenada, he took action against terrorists in the Middle East.
He revived the Republican Party after the debacle of Watergate. Because of Ronald Reagan, Republicans gained the majority in the Senate. He paved the way for the later GOP gains in Congress--especially in the House where the GOP achieved majority in 1994 after close to 40 years in the minority.
Ronald Reagan said "nyet" to Russia. He put communism just like he promised to do into the "ash heap of history."
Ronald Reagan- a great man, a great president, and one who will live on in history as one of the greatest America ever had.
